Maid Nap

Penny was created as an Angel tasked with taking care of humans; a Guardian Angel in human terms. Spending many centuries watching from through the eyes of her trusty bear companion Poggles, placed amongst the human realm, she worked up the courage to enter the realm herself despite the sworn duty that any angel must simply watch from afar. She heard the stories of other named Guardian Angels being punished for breaking their oath to the Angelic duties. Despite the risks, the temptation won. Taking little secret trips into the realm she posed as Nap as she learnt so much more than what she knew of humans from the heavens from just a few hours. She took careful steps to ensure she would not be caught- but nothing would be able to hide from the angelic laws forever.

During one of her outings she was caught by a surveying angel and sent to receive the harshest punishment for angels… The confiscation of her wings and banishment from the realm she called home, now with a new title. A Fallen Angel. Despite the initial fear of the unknown, she felt free for the first time in her life. Penny settled down on earth under a human alias ‘Nap’. There was much to learn, from the ways of the humans, to the needs of humans like hunger, sleep and friendship. Opening a little cafe, even visited by Poggles in secret, the years pass. Every few decades she would lift up her little shop and move a few towns over to avoid suspicion of her never ageing nature- something she learnt from her favourite movies that she’d binge every few months or so.

One particular move, she heard rumours of a town where another guardian angel had left their post to live amongst humans (amongst others). A guardian angel living on earth who still possessed his wings? Impossible! She had to know more. Under the cover of night, she moved and set up her cafe in a quiet opening within the rumoured location of the so-called ‘MOE’ mansion. Observing the maids and butlers who moved in and out of the building, she eventually spotted him: the training Angel, now named Atsushi. Rushing out of her little home she approached him.

“Oh hello my cherub, how can I he-” The angel paused as his eyes widened “Oh my heavens!” His eyes glimmered in a hint of sadness and shock. Fallen angels were casted away by angels, Nap was prepared for the worst.

“Your bow is all crooked! We must fix that, and I think I know just the one who can help,” He led her down the corridors followed by Poggles where she was swiftly fixed by a wonderful maid in mint. She wasn’t sure how they could even see her, there was some magic in the MOE mansion that would show one’s true form- despite losing her wings, Penny being a named Angel often found that humans would struggle to look directly at her in person due to the brilliant light that would emit from her human form- hence why she sought refuge in communicating to humans through a screen. Yet the inhabitants of the mansion were able to converse with her just fine. Before she knew it she was back outside her cafe, the angel she sought out had run off whimsically singing about saving his wings from the clutches of a tiger. Nap, despite being bewildered with what just happened, grew a new determination to find out more about this strange place. Hanging up a closed sign on her cafe, she packed her bags and walked into the doors of the MOE mansion!
