Random fact

Mercury's ‘hair’ is actually just fire. It has the consistency of gelatin, in which the wisps of flame coming off the end hold the scent (and maybe taste, nobody has found out yet) of Blue Raspberry.

Mercury wasn’t born, but made, existing as the magnum opus of an elf in a faraway land: a Motorcycle. This motorcycle, despite being the first creation of the soon-to-be master mechanic, had never been scrapped and only upgraded. The love the elf had for the motorcycle called Mercury was unmatched! Regular cleaning and tune-ups, upgrades galore, paint jobs, refuels, and so much more. It was as if the elf saw a best friend within the bike they’ve made.

Throughout a century of passed time, Mercury had been around the elf while they preached of safety, kind words, and good values all around. The energy of such a kind soul rubbed off on the waiting spirit blooming within the vehicle, only growing more impatient to awaken as time went on. Mercury was never alone, their creator always choosing them as their main method of transportation across whatever land they sought to travel to, fixing people’s problems and rides along the way.

On the dawn of the 7th day, exactly 100 years after Mercury was created, the elf was approached by a kind deity who aimed to grant them a wish for displaying such generosity. What did the elf ask for?

“Allow my best friend to live alongside me as people do.”

“Allow them to live, cry, laugh, and feel all the same emotions as we do.”

Their words were granted exactly as they wanted them to be. The deity nodded and through a downward point of their finger, a droplet made of pure glass hope dropped onto the bike, imbuing it with the collective willpower of billions. Thus, Mercury awoke… sentient. A mouth they could breathe with, arms and legs they could move with, a body all the same! Overjoyed, Mercury embraced their creator, their new life officially beginning. Mercury was introduced to many foods, cultures, people, and vehicles! The young bike grew to be quite rowdy, loud, and downright feisty, but the elf loved them regardless. Years passed, on the dawn of Mercury’s 17th birthday (awakening), the elf came to them. A slightly solemn expression on their face, but with good intentions nonetheless.

“You’ve matured, Mercury. More than I’ve ever expected, and I am very proud of the man you’ve become…Though, I have something I need to accomplish, something which I must do alone.”

“Take these words and take them to heart. One day, just as I found and made you, you yourself will find or make something you wish to protect with your entire being. A cause you’d fight for, a person you’d cry with, it matters not the form it comes in. But do your best to help it thrive, when the time comes.”

The sudden nature of this had surprised Mercury, but they would never doubt their creator. Trusting as always, the young bike nodded, leaving their creator with a promise that would never be broken. Time had passed. On the dawn of the Xth day after the elf had set out, rumours began to spread about a bike zooming down the road without a rider. Mercury for the first time, was not sure what his purpose was. He was simply exploring the world with new found ‘freedom’.

On this day, the bike came across a Mansion settled in a pretty place under the colourful sky. This place radiated happiness, an aura the bike picked up on. He was so distracted that he missed his grumbling empty fuel tank blinking red. Normally his elf creator would remind him to refuel. When he realised that there might be some trouble, he had rolled onto the gardens of the mansion.

Using the last fragments of his strength, he knocked on the mansions’ door,

“Hi! I’m Mercury. Do you have any fuel?”

Wearily allowed into the Mansion, he told his story and fascinated the Maids and Butlers who swiftly prepared a room for their new friend. Mercury felt a warm sensation in his engine. Human emotions were so odd! The bike took a deep breath as he set out on this new journey, all by himself!

Where despair and prejudice reside, there exists a being of hair blazing blue with a body of will and steel hunting it down! Though for the safety of the MOE mansion and their masters, he’s been disallowed from leaving his room when the gates open… For now…
